Iceland 2023

Setting up a blog for my long awaited trip to Iceland in Oct 2023.

I leave NZ on 30th September and fly to London via Singapore on the dreaded 24 hour long haul.  I'll have a few days in the UK to catch up with family and friends and head to Reykjavik on 8th Oct, where I'm meeting Belinda who is flying in from Canada the same day.

I met Belinda back in August 2019 on a photography trip in the arctic shooting polar bears, and we were roomies on an Alaska Winter photography trip in March 2020 BC (before covid).

We've hired a camper van for 2 weeks and plan to cruise anti-clockwise around the ring road, cramming in as many waterfalls, glaciers, black sand beaches and braided rivers as our memory cards can handle.

It will be autumn, with temps ranging from an average low of 2 degrees to an average high of 7 degrees, with roughly 8 - 10 hours of daylight.  Yes the van is heated, and yes we are packing layers and wet weather gear!

Hoping to see Aurora Borealis, but obviously it will depend very much on the weather.  Bring it on !
