Day 7 - Manchester
I caught the 9.37 train from Knaresborough to Leeds, changed platforms and caught the 10:45 train from Leeds to Manchester. This time the luggage racks were completely full, unsurprising really as the train's final destination was Manchester Airport.
I
was met at the train station by my niece Heather, who took one look at my
mountain of luggage and realised we needed to dump.it at the car, rather than
hauling it through the streets of Manchester to the Federal cafe where we had a
very nice lunch. We headed home to their house in Adlington, were I got to say
hello to Heather's husband Tom, and meet Douglas the dalmation and
Merlin the cat.
We
took Douglas on a very muddy but picturesque long walk up near the Rivington
Reservoir. They have clearly had a lot of rain recently and the streams were
flowing high and the ground was sodden and muddy. Douglas did not care and was
off chasing squirrels and having a marvelous time.
Dinner
was booked for 6.30pm, so we had a quick stop at the nearby brewery for a drink
and then headed to the Yew Tree pub for a meal. Technically a pub, but the food
was fantastic. Garlic mushrooms for entree followed by pork belly roast.
